Week 13 Digital Photography Assignment - Portraits

This is a portrait of my youngest daughter.

The hardest part of doing any portrait for me is the lighting, if I am doing them inside. I can't  move my flash or point it in a different direction and I really do not like what a flash does with the lighting, in most cases. It tends to distort things and add deeper shadows than there should be. To get this shot I actually held my hand about 3 inches in front of my flash with my fingers slightly open so that I could get the slash of light across the eyes.

Basically it was lots of trial and error and lots of shots. But I was pretty happy with the outcome so it was worth it.

One of the first times we took our Jeep out on the trails. It was a blast and certainly showed us what we needed to do to our Jeep in order to make it through some of the more challenging trails.

This all I could do with the photo with my first camera, my first editing program, and my very limited experience. I may re-post this shot on another day after I have run it through Photoshop.
