This a photo of my daughter's eye. This is also one of the photos that is my Digital Photography class Collage Assignment. I love taking photos of eyes even though it can be very challenging.

My Photo of The Day September 29, 2010

Today is my son's 16th birthday. Wow, time flys! This photo was taken at Wells Beach, Maine. It was nice to capture all three of my kids together whithout having to bribe and threaten them into it :)

My Photo of The Day September 28th, 2010

This picture is a close up of a cone flower that was in bloom over the summer. Summer is pretty much over and the leaves are starting to turn. Soon I will be going out on Jeeping trips and road trips capturing the fall colors in new photos.

Week 3 Digital Photography Collage

I had fun with this assignment. I have been using the macro setting on my cameras for a while and really enjoy it. The camera that I currently have is a Fuji Finepix S1000 fd (a point and shoot) and has a macro and super macro setting. I can get really close to something and get lots of detail. I pretty much took pictures of everything for this collage.

First Assignment for Digital Photography

First I have to say the hardest part of this assignment was not 'playing' with the photos in the editing program. I really wanted them to be Black and White. I know I could have shot in B&W but I would rather have a color photo and change it to B&W in the editing program. Usually when I take pictures of something I take them from all kinds of angles even if I don't think that they will work. Its amazing what you can get from the least likely shots. It was nice to have an excuse to get camera out.
As far as angles go when taking a shot, I think that subtle differences can change the mood and the message of the photo. I did a couple of full body shots also and the ones from the back gave a completely different impression than the ones from the front.
Depending on lighting, different angles can help to lighten shadows or deepen them. My philosophy is take lots of shots and play with them to see what you can get.

Day 1 of My First Blog

This is the first time I have had any experience with blogging. I set this up for my Digital Photog class and am excited about learning to use my camera, a Fuji Finepix S1000fd, and Photoshop. I took some pics over the weekend of a Jeeping trip I went on and got some nice shots. Tomorrow I will be on the road for about three hours and plan to bring my camera along in hopes of catching a few good shots.
